Artisans’ Studios

1. Abby Reczek Pottery



477 Black Ridge Rd. SW, Floyd

Handmade functional pottery designed to make you feel like you’re walking through the hills of Floyd!  June Tour Info: Guest Artist Ayla Mullen. Wheel thrown and botanically decorated functional pottery.  Mishima inlay demos; studio tour, snacks & beverages.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: Down the hill from Chateau Morrisette on Black Ridge Rd.


2. Calico & Old Lace



3033 Daniels Run Rd. NE, Check

Quilts, quilted wall hangings, table décor, quilted garments.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Easily accessible site, beautiful gardens, quilts inside basement studio.


3. Charlie Brouwer



268 Akers Rd. NW, Willis

Constructed wood sculptures, works on paper and work in progress in the studio, 25 large-scale sculptures on a 1/2 mile trail through woods and field.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: From Floyd: Rt. 8 N for 4.3 miles and turn left on Ridge View Rd.  In 6.5 miles turn riht on Alum Ridge Rd. for 0.5 mile and turn left on Sawmill Hill Rd.  In one mile, turn right on Akers Rd. NW. Half mile on left.


4. Frog Hollow Pottery

Functional and decorative pottery with either ash or crystalline glazes.

6. Jessie Benson Fine Art

Visit the studio of artist Jessie Benson and discover her unique beeswax and oil paintings. Enjoy a spectacular view of Buffalo Mountain. Worth the drive! See many new works for sale, and learn about Jessie’s original technique.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: Drive straight to very end of Alta View Dr. SW and pass through blue gate.  Studio on right.


7. Phoenix Hardwoods



2540 Floyd Hwy North, Floyd

Handcrafted, unique furniture & gifts, using local hardwoods and slabs we mill ourselves. Live-edge slab stools, tables, beds, cutting boards and much more!

8. Poor Farm Pottery

Handmade porcelain by Andrea Denniston, and stoneware pottery by Seth Guzovsky. Featuring our on-site gallery, teardrop mobile gallery, and workshop tours.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: One quarter mile from Franklin Pike, set back from the street. Please drive down driveway, park on side of gallery and enjoy!


9. Purple Barn Studios



1423 Epperly Mill Rd. SW, Floyd

Painting studio of Sydney Wellman whose focus is figurative works created in acrylics/mixed media.  Handcrafts include art journals, sculpture, jewelry, and notecards.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: “Just a few minutes from the Floyd traffic light!”


10. River Farm Studios



442 Sowers Mill Dam Rd. NE, Riner

River Farms Studios is actually two studios. Windy Hill Glassworks, a flame working glass workshop by Elizabeth Mears, makes sculptural objects using a hot glass technique at the torch. Windy Hill String Works, a muscial instrument production workshop by Mike Mears, has produced over 300 guitars, fiddles, banjos and ukeleles. There is a display gallery at the glassworks studio where glass sculptures are on display and some are for sale. The guitarworks studio will have instruments to try and instruments and accessories for sale.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Windy Hill Stringworks is handicap accessible via ramps. Windy Hill Glassworks has two single steps to access the studio and rest room. There is parking for about 20 cars on the greenway near the river. Signs will guide visitors.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: Sowers Mill Dam Road runs beside the Little River in Floyd County. The nearest cross street is White Oake Grove Road (Route 617)


11. Sarah McCarthy Pottery



512 Fairview Church Rd., Floyd

Colorful wheel thrown and hand built functional ceramics for the home as well as ceramic jewelry. Guest Artist Adija Wolf is a palette knife painter who creates abstract impressionist paintings that reflect the mountains of Southwest Virginia as well as the coast of Maine. Featuring bonsai garden, studio tour, and refreshments, Close to town!

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: Close to town, off Route 8.


12. Wild Weeds Studio



2556 Floyd Highway North, Floyd

Visit mixed media/folk artist Annie Badger’s studio.  Her art features expressive, colorful acrylics, whimsical collage works, and much more. Annie will demo what she is working on throughout the tour. Refreshments and sales.

13. Wrenn Pottery

Wheel thrown porcelain pottery made for the home and table. Throwing demos throughout tour. Guest artist Amy Avery – handcrafted quilted goods for the home. Guest Artist Celena Burnett- ceramic mobiles for the home that feed the heart and soul.

We feature the region’s best arts & crafts, landscape photography, pressed floral art, hand-crafted jewelry, garden art, gifts, and more. A fun place to shop! Free refreshments. Daily craft & art demos from 3-5 pm. Plant and herb sale.

15. Filamina Jewelry LLC



2681 Floyd Hwy North, Floyd

Handcrafted jewelry using Swarovski crystals and pearls; semi-precious stones, and wire-wrapped stones.


16. New Mountain Mercantile



114 S. Locust St., Floyd

Visit the New Mountain Mercantile and enjoy a Floyd favorite since 1991. The Mercantile features art handcrafted in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and women’s clothing by Habitat and Plume and Thread. Experience the works of talented local artists, featuring stained glass, essential oils, incense, jewelry, pottery, tie dye, wood crafts, and much, much more!


17. The Maggie Gallery



187 North Locust Street, Floyd

“The Maggie” is an elegant art gallery, gift shop, and custom frame shop offering beautiful and unique art and gifts from over 15 regional artists.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Handicap accessible, on-site parking.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: The Maggie Gallery is one block north of the Floyd stoplight on the corner of North Locust Street (VA 8) and Oxford Street.


Farms & Farm Stores

18. Field’s Edge Farm



155 Hubbard Rd., Floyd

We raise specialty beef and produce on this historic Floyd family farm, using regenerative farming practices.  Attend farming and gardening demos, and shop for farm products at our stand. Visit events page at our website for schedule of activities.


19. Mellowspring Family Farms, LLC



788 Tuggles Gap Rd. SW, Floyd

Heritage breed animals – Jacob sheep, ducks & turkeys! Alpacas! Yurt rentals! Visit our BeStillery for farm-made art & gifts! BeStillery shop open. Guided tours to visit animals and see yurts.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Dirt farm road off a residential road. Very muddy with rain. Free range animals throughout property, including LGD (livestock guard dog)


20. Ocotilla’s Mountainside Alpacas, LLC




4388 Buffalo Mountain Rd. SW, Willis

Open 10-4. Family owned and operated Alpaca ranch. We specialize in the quality raising, breeding, and selling of fine Alpacas and their products. “Carrying on the tradition!” Meet the Alpacas and see products produced from their fleece.


21. Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary



401 Hideaway Ln., Floyd

Tours, farm store, product sales, a talk at the Sanctuary, an opportunity to enjoy the bees, flowers, and beautiful landscape. Bee talk at 2:00 pm on Sunday.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Due to a class commitment, we will only be open on Sunday, June 9.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: From the light in Floyd: Head east on US 221 (Floyd Hwy N) – 7.9 miles, Turn right on Cannady School Rd – 2.1 miles, Turn right on Hideaway Ln – 0.6 miles.

22. 5 Mile Mountain Distillery



489 Floyd Highway South, Floyd

We handcraft moonshine from local grains. Come for a tasting and browse the gift shop!


23. Chantilly Farm



2697 Franklin Pike SE, Floyd

Join us this weekend for RV/tent camping or stop by to enjoy our beautiful outdoor spaces and explore our serene hiking and biking trails. Pop up dinner w/ wine pairing Saturday evening at 6pm.

SPECIAL SITE CONSIDERATIONS: Handicap accessible, gravel roads throughout event park. 

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS: From town, head N on 221. Take R onto Franklin Pike and destination is approx 5 miles ahead on the left.


24. Chateau Morrisette Winery & Restaurant



287 Winery Rd. SW, Floyd

Winery Tours, Wine Tastings, Gift Shop, Casual Fine Dining, Festivals and Events, Scenic Vistas, Over 20 types of sweet, dry, and fruit wines. Handicap accessible, dog friendly. Sunday, June 9, Mountains of Music Homecoming Concert Featuring “Hot Trail Mix”.


25. Dogtown Roadhouse



302 S Locust St., Floyd

Live music Friday & Saturday nights at 8 pm. Open Mic Night every Sunday at 6 pm. Great selection of Craft Beer, Wood-Fired Pizzas, and local burgers.


26. Floyd Country Store



206 S. Locust St., Floyd

A small town café offering sandwiches, salads, soups and hearty dishes, along with a great selection of homemade desserts and hand-dipped ice cream. We use the freshest ingredients available and make most everything from scratch. Friday Night Jamboree on June 7 from 6:30 – 10:30 pm. Americana Afternoons free music on June 8 from noon until 3:00 pm, followed by Saturday night dance with local string band at 7:30 pm.


27. Hotel Floyd



300 Rick Lewis Way, Floyd

A “green” boutique hotel with 40 themed rooms and suites featuring local art, crafts, and culture.  Conference space for up to 90 people. See website for details. Concerts Thurs. evenings, May-Oct. Advance registration suggested for June Tour.

28. Floyd Center for the Arts



220 Parkway Lane S., Floyd

Community Arts Center with resident studio artists, 3 galleries featuring rotating exhibits, a retail craft gallery and special events and concerts throughout the year.  Open studio, classes and workshops available. Maps, tour information and friendly staff will be on-site for the duration of the tour. Learn more about our creative community and our regional artists and artisans.


29. Floyd County Visitor Center
